June 2023 Casual Conversation-Be Proud

Hi everybody. Welcome to the June edition of the Casual Conversation. Thanks for stopping by.

Can you believe it's June already? I feel like two seconds ago it was winter and cold and we are waiting for summer and now I'm sitting here as the sun is setting and I am getting landed on by mosquitoes and I'm just so thankful for warmer weather and all the things that summer is promising. It's so close and the chance for maybe a little bit of R&R seems such a great possibility at this time.

I recently had the opportunity to talk to a friend of mine and she asked me if I was proud of myself for what I've accomplished over the last two years in this industry, now in my third year, and it made me think, my easy answer, shall we call it, answer is “Yeah. I'm proud.” I grew up in a society that taught us that pride was wrong and that you shouldn't be prideful of anything, but you know what, I'm darn proud of what I've done, in my second year in real estate, I was in the top 10% in all of Canada for Royal LePage Benchmark, and I am proud that I have been able to help so many families. I am proud that I have had the opportunity to find what I love doing and get to do it every day. Even on those crazy, stressful, busy days, I am proud to be a Realtor and when people ask me what I do, I'm proud to say I help people find homes and I help people sell their homes. It’s such a great feeling. It's always that hard thing where you're trying to justify the pride that you've been told is bad for so long with the feeling of self accomplishment. Sometimes I know it might be hard to actually say out loud that I'm proud or that you are proud of something you've done, but I hope that you feel that strength and that power to say, “You know what, I have done a lot and I have worked hard and it has paid off. I'm proud of what I do.”

I want you to take that through the summer and be proud of all the moments that you have with your family and with your friends, and those moments by yourself. Take the time to sit and watch the sun rise, or the sun set and be proud of where we are in our lives. Be proud of what you’ve done, what you’ve accomplished, and be proud of who you are as a person.

I look forward to seeing you again soon. I honestly don’t know, July and August, how much I am going to stop in. I am looking forward to a little bit of time with my family where social media and videos are not my first priority and just being in the moment and spending time with them. So, until I see you next time, it may just be a brief hello, I hope you have an amazing summer, I hope that you make lots of memories. I look forward to seeing you again when we connect next time, have a great day, have a great June, and I'll talk to you again soon. Goodbye.
